One of the coolest and most twisted sites we have done - Independent Distillers essentially said; "Be more funky - we want colors and effects and stuff ... you know, be Twisted" - so, we stepped out of normal corporate design and played with party packs, t-shirts, animations and a whole lot more. The results is a site the showcases a cool product with amazing capabilities including Zip-code look for all stores stocking TwistedShotz nationwide, ability for users to create their own shots on the fly and general information on new flavors and products. A pretty darn cool thing...

Showcasing Matarozzi Pelsinger service area using Google Maps

Gatelets just extended the Matarozzi Pelsinger site in a fun way - service areas were first shown as a single image, however we have now empowered employees to add project map markers to a Google map to show off the projects and service area. The system enables someone to add a title and address and it automatically (using Google GEO Location API) finds the longitude and latitude. Markers are created and added to a google map so that customers can then look at the various areas and projects with ease.

S.H.A.R.E raises 30k

Supporting 2012 Denali expedition

Gatelets has been working on the Denali Java MVC framework and product for about a year now. Denali is what drives most of our customer solutions. Therefore it is only fitting for Gatelets to sponsor and support a team on a Mt. Denali summit bid in June/July 2012.

Denali (Also known as Mount McKinley) stands 20,320ft. Interestingly, Denali has a larger bulk and rise than Mt Everest. Denali is also really cold and weather patterns make this a formidable mountain.

Gatelets is a sponsor of the latest S.H.A.R.E (Sustainable Healthcare Assistance in Rural Environments) expedition to climb Mt. Kiliminjaro and raise money for the Maasai. Today, an estimated 350,000 Maasai live in Kenya in rural and remote communities. They suffer many common ailments including malaria, typhoid, HIV and TB; traumatic injuries are common as is malnutrition in children. One doctor supports approximately 7,000 villagers, and with no means of transport most do not receive medical care early enough for effective treatment.

Communication is important for the group of hikers. Gatelets quickly developed a site for the group using our Denali framework. The site enables administrators to update any content on the site. However, one of the key problems is how to communicate when you are 20k feet up Mt. Kilimanjaro. Believe it or not, there is a weak cell signal up there and around the various lower level camps. Gatelets created specific data interfaces enabling the hikers to send Twitter-like updates from the road. We had to strip out every extra data hop, server/database call and "nice to have" - we ended up building what we have called "Satellite" - this provides a simple interface for the iPhone or Blackberry and enables the hikers to login using a simple numeric passphrase (instead of typing passwords). Satellite bypasses all the extra normal code and provides a clean mobile user interface (HTML 5/CSS3) enabling the user to (with cold hands) enter a piece of news.

Gatelets diving into iPad development

Things are about to get really twisted. Gatelets just signed a contract to develop and host the new Independent Distillers TwistedShotz web site. The site will be full of super interactive goodies including zip code radius lookups and ability for users to create their own flavors and share pictures from events etc.
We are super excited to be working on this site and continuing our great partnership with ID.
The site will be built using Gatelets Denali and will have a supporting iPad/iPhone interface.

Why so quiet?

We have a ton going on and will be stepping away (for a short time) from Gatelets.com site, blogging, Facebooking, tweeting or any of those activities. We are working on some very cool stuff for some customers and Gatelets. G3 is in Beta, a new customer dashboard, 4 super customer projects using our new PocketWatch framework, a new Gatelets.com and even early work on a new product we hope to release by the end of the year. That's a lot for a small company, but we are jazzed and just need some time to focus and get those things done.

This is the first phase for the site. It was developed quickly to meet some campaign deadlines - further enhancements will be made in 2011.

The talk Marketing 2.0 in a Digital World covers quite a bit of ground, looking at some of the trends and how small businesses might approach social marketing. We know social media is not a fad and it is indeed changing business, but does that mean you should drop everything and rush into it? What are the things you should consider? Gatelets customers are being moved (with no disruption to service) to a new Gatelets infrastructure that will provide better performance and stability. Some of the key changes:

New data center - multiple Internet connections, redundant backup power etc.
